If you give even the slightest shit about video games, you’ve no doubt heard about Brutal Legend, and more than likely are as stoked as I am for its release on October 13th. While I’ve yet to experience gameplay firsthand; (Xbox Demo hits the streets this Thursday) everything I’ve seen and read up to this point looks extremely promising (including the opening cinematic).

I stumbled upon the above video over at Double Fine conceptual artist (and all-around great illustrator) Scott C’s blog and thought it would be worth sharing. Obviously, art direction is a crucial part of any video game, let alone one centered around metal, and thankfully, the folks at Double Fine opted for something a little different than the tried and true H.R Giger references.

However… this begs the question… would Hieronymus Bosch be cranking out better Slayer merch were he alive today?

Man… it’s been a long time since I graduated high school, but back then, dudes wearing Maiden and Slayer t-shirts weren’t the total pussies they seem to be nowadays. Good thing Bullet For My Valentine are around to show these wimps that all you need is a little patience, a remote wooded area, and 3 copies of Twilight on DVD to stand up to those jock fuckheads.

Mark’s Review

If there’s one thing I hate more than TEACHERS and PARENTS, it’s fucking JOCKS! Everyone’s always telling me I need to change my ways, but fuck that, I’m true to MYSELF!!!. So when I watch this video, it’s like someone had a camera on my LIFE. Bullet for my Valentine is REAL, COMPRENDE??? They don’t follow trends like shitty Taylor Swift and Lifehouse (FAGS!! LOL!!). In fact, Matt Tuck once said he doesn’t give a SHIT about trends or “what his fucking hair looks like”, and I believe him, cause when I saw the band at the Mayhem Fest (sponsored by Hot Topic), they totally looked like they kicked ass!!! I hope this video inspires other kids like me that are total UNDERGROUND to change into werewolves and murder people who pick on them.

God damn… getting old sucks.

Man… there is a absolute shit-ton of Danzig videos on YouTube. So many, that I’m honestly having trouble determining the real videos from the impostures.

What ever is a Danzig fan to do?

Our favorite place to eat (or in Mark’s case… get in a fight) was recently featured on the Food Network. I have a feeling this is about as close as Lair of the Minotaur will ever get to superstardom.

Normally, cover albums suck balls… but for some reason, I think Hatebreed might actually pull this shit off.

Mark’s Review

This tattoo rates high on the Awesome Scale, although having 3/4 of the band depicted with their eyes closed is an interesting, albeit daring choice. I have a few beefs though, first, no Dave Holland??? Sure, I guess you could say that Mt. Rushmore only has 4 spots, but you could swap Ian Hill out for him. Second, I want to have Hell Bent for Leather-era Rob on there. You know, when he wore mirrored shades and leather chaps and no one knew he was gay? If not that, then maybe Turbo-era with the sweet mullet. All in all, I’m jealous of this guy. I’m sure he has to carry an aluminum stick and some sort of smoke flare in order to beat back and then quickly escape all the pussy he attracts. I don’t know who the senators or governor of South Dakota is, but they need to look into this right away.

Justin’s Review

It’s too bad Gutzon Borglum is dead, because I’m certain he would’ve jumped all over the chance to carve the forefathers of metal into the side of a mountain. Can you imagine how much dynamite they’d have to go through to recreate such perfectly feathered hair? The attention to detail would’ve had Michelangelo spinning in his grave with envy.

Though I truly have to wonder how the fine folks of South Dakota would’ve felt about a monument to the Brits in their back yard. Probably would’ve been better off going with Metallica or Slayer instead.

Alas… this stellar back piece is all we will ever know for sure.
